Interventional Pain Management, Anesthesiologist
Meera Kirpekar is a board-certified anesthesiologist and pain medicine physician in New York City. She attended medical school at Tulane University School of Medicine in New Orleans and completed her residency in anesthesiology and fellowship in interventional pain medicine at Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai in New York City. She is a passionate advocate for women’s health, and as a result, her practice focuses on female patients. While she treats a variety of pathologies, her practice focuses on pelvic pain. She treats pelvic pain using a multidisciplinary approach with multiple health care professionals. She offers many pain procedures to help treat pelvic pain. She is also currently obtaining an additional board certification in lifestyle medicine, so she can further provide avenues for patient care beyond temporary measures, and rather through more permanent changes with lifestyle modifications. Her clinical impact in the fields of anesthesiology and pain medicine consistently grows and changes as she continues to learn from her colleagues and patients. She hopes to change her patients’ lives for the better through her clinical work, research, and education. To that end, she and a fellow physician, Dr. Alopi Patel, have created a podcast, The Hurt, and social media platform, The Female Pain Docs to educate and empower women to engage in the advancement of their health by bringing to the forefront discussions of public health based on gender. As The Female Pain Docs, they pursue a facts-based approach on advancements in treatment and analysis of disease and ailments affecting women. They hope to educate a global audience on the treatment of women patients and on diagnoses that may be considered taboo or uncomfortable, particularly within the South Asian community, due to cultural norms.
